Montreal institution Bar B Barn is officially closing its West Island location for good — marking the end of an era.
Located on Boulevard Sources in Montreal's Dollard-des-Ormeaux borough, Bar B Barn was unmissable for anyone driving along Highway 40 as the iconic Bar B Barn yellow and brown colours could be spotted from a mile away.
Known for its mouthwatering ribs and chicken, Bar B Barn opened its downtown Montreal location in 1967, with its West Island eatery opening shortly after.
Sadly, in 2020 the original Bar B Barn shut its doors following the COVID-19 crisis. At the time, new safety requirements would have made it impossible for the restaurant to re-open. Despite the restaurant being a Montreal landmark on rue Guy, the owners had no choice but to close.

Now, its sister location is following suit. While the reason for Bar B Barn's closure has yet to be confirmed, a Facebook page named The Lachine Messenger claims that the owner wishes to retire.
While the news of Bar B Barn's closure is certainly a hit to Montreal's notorious food scene, Montrealers and visitors alike will still be able to get their hands on delicious chicken, ribs and crinkle-cut French fries for two more weeks.
Despite Bar B Barn's initial plans to serve its final plate on March 17, the restaurant has decided to close several days early and is officially no longer in business as of March 11, 2024.
