Parc-Ex Is Getting A New Park & Montreal's First-Ever Road Made With Recycled Material

The City of Montreal has announced the concept for a planned new park in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough.

The 4,000 square-metre park, named after Montreal Canadiens legend Dickie Moore, will take shape at the intersection of avenues Beaumont and De l'Épée, the latter of which will be redeveloped with a foundation made of recycled materials, a first-of-its-kind experiment for Montreal, according to a press release.

The plan calls for the park to include "a water play area, a playground in the form of a playful discovery trail, and a large grassy area contributing to the ecological management of run-off water."

"Everything from the play areas to the gathering areas" will be "designed to manage rainwater in an environmentally friendly manner," according to Eric Alan Caldwell, who is responsible for urban planning and mobility on the city's executive committee.

The park is scheduled to open in spring 2022.
