At about 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, January 17, a 911 call was placed to Montreal police for a 49-year-old woman who was stabbed in her home in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough on rue Gilford.

The victim has allegedly been taken to the hospital and was still in critical condition when MTL Blog called the SPVM for updates at around 9:30 a.m.

We fear for her life.

Jean-Pierre Brabant, Media Officer for the SPVM

The suspect is the victim's 23-year-old son, who was "arrested on-site," according to the SPVM.

We're told that he has been taken to another nearby hospital for a psychological evaluation.

The SPVM said it remains at the scene of the crime to conduct analyses as to how and why the events took place.

MTL Blog asked Officer Brabant what the possible charges may be for the suspects, especially with a psychological evaluation.

"For now, he's under investigation of the hospital, so we actually cannot have access to the person," the media officer explained.

"We will wait until the doctor says it's OK."
