5 new Montreal restaurants were just named among Canada's best for 2024
Have you visited them all yet?

A few of Montreal's best new restaurants for 2024.
Foodies of the 514, it's that time of year again! The longlist for Air Canada's Best New Restaurants 2024 ranking was just revealed, and five of the hottest new Montreal restaurants have made the cut.
These local gems are shining alongside 30 of the best new restaurants from across the country, spread over 18 cities in seven provinces. From Vancouver to St. John's, the list highlights some of the best restaurants in Canada, but Montreal is a clear standout this year with five nominees — tying with Vancouver for second place behind Toronto.
Since 2002, Air Canada has been celebrating the very best of Canada's food scene through this annual ranking, which is also the longest-running list of its kind in the country.
The ranking is based on a single anonymous reviewer who embarks on a month-long food marathon, dining their way across Canada hitting up spots recommended by a panel of food experts from every corner of the country, according to Air Canada.
This year's longlist is full of fresh talent, showcasing restaurants that opened between spring 2023 and May 2024. From coast to coast, it features restaurants that go above and beyond in terms of food quality, creativity and service. Montreal's nominees span cuisines and categories, from contemporary bistros to chic wine bars.
The new Montreal spots that made the cut this year are Mile End brasserie Casavant, Parapluie in Little Italy, and Pointe-Saint-Charles fine dining spot Sabayon — all three of which also made the prestigious Canada's Best list in May. Also featured were Little Burgundy's Heni as well as Juliette Plaza, the next-door neighbour and spinoff of Saint-Hubert mainstay Montreal Plaza.
While Montreal's presence is strong, it's not just about the big cities this year, and there's some respectable representation from other spots in Quebec too. Maison de Soma in Mont Tremblant and Caméline in Gatineau also made the list, proving that great new spots are popping up all over the province.
So, if you're on the lookout for your next great meal, this longlist is a great place to start. And don't forget — the top 10 winners will be announced in November. Until then, you can start planning your next food adventure, whether it's a reservation at one of these local gems or a cross-country foodie road trip.
