These 7 Montreal roads are the worst in the city, according to CAA-Quebec

The votes are in! 🚧🚨

Large pothole in Montreal.

As Montrealers, we don't need anyone (not a ranking nor an expert nor a tourist) to tell us how bad our roads are. Trust us — we already know.

For drivers in this city, the question isn't if our roads are awful, but rather, "Which ones are the most awful?"

Whether due to traffic, potholes, confusing signage or something else that's surely just as aggravating, everyone has their own most-hated streets (*cough* Côte-de-Liesse). But thanks to Quebec's Canadian Automobile Association (CAA-Quebec), we now have official results based on votes from Quebecers.

According to CAA-Quebec's 2024 ranking by region, these are Montreal's seven worst roads:

1: Rue Notre-Dame Est
2: Avenue Christophe-Colomb
3: Rue Sherbrooke Est
4: Boulevard de l’Acadie
5: Boulevard Rosemont
5: Rue Jean-Talon Ouest
5: Rue Notre-Dame Ouest

Given that there are so many great options for horrible roads in this town, it makes sense that we ended up with a three-way tie for fifth place.

Nearby in Laval, most people despise boulevard des Mille-Îles, boulevard des Laurentides and boulevard Lévesque Ouest.

In Montérégie, Brossard's boulevard Taschereau, Sorel-Tracy's Autoroute 30 (MTMD) and Châteauguay's Voie de service de l’Autoroute 30 topped the charts, followed by Pointe-Fortune's Route 342 (MTMD), Longueuil's chemin de Chambly and Longueuil's Grande-Allée.

By way of votes, CAA-Quebec also ranked the top 10 worst roads in the province overall and, surprisingly, no Montreal routes made the cut. Maybe the grass — or, rather the road — is always greener... errm, smoother? I don't know. It's not a perfect analogy, but just like our imperfect roads, it gets the job done.
