Calling All MTL Restaurant Owners, DoorDash Is Providing Over $1M To Support Local Spots
Great news for any local Montreal restaurants right now! Food delivery giant DoorDash announced that the company will donate $1,125,000 CAD to restaurants in Toronto, Vancouver and here in Montreal as part of a COVID-19 relief effort.
Restaurants can apply for a $3,000 grant, which can be used to help with the ongoing effects the pandemic has had on the industry.

Total funds DoorDash is providing for a COVID-19 relief fund in Canada
Eligible restaurants include those with three locations or less, employ less than 50 people and be operating on less than $3 million per location based on revenue in 2019.
The application will be open until February 17 and the process will be managed by Hello Alice. The Ontario Chamber of Commerce will be responsible for the allocation of funds in all cities.
This grant is part of a five-year $200 million USD program, called the Main Street Strong Pledge, which includes $10 million USD to help restaurants across Canada and the U.S.
"We're committed to supporting Canadian restaurants as they continue to navigate uncertainties presented by the pandemic," says David London, Director, U.S. East and Canada Government Relations for DoorDash.
"Whether it's to maintain operations or help support staff, we hope these grants will play a role in enabling our merchants to stay resilient and continue to feed their local communities."
Throughout the pandemic, the company has also only charged half of the regular commission for restaurants with five locations or less and 0% for new restaurants and pickups.
