Les Guinguettes de Montréal's first location is officially open next to the Lachine Canal in the Sud-Ouest. 

The huge new terrasse includes a bar and restaurant, a stage, games and lounge chairs where you can just sit and enjoy the view of the downtown skyline. Here's what it's like.

Les Guinguettes will host several activities and events over the course of its run, including, according to a press release, live music, comedy shows and sustainable development workshops.

Tata, the on-site restaurant, is serving up vegan tapas, burgers, and hot dogs.

But what might stand out most is the dessert menu: churros, waffles, a "brookie," and cheesecake.

You can also get sangria, margaritas, cucumber collins and mojitos by the pitcher, in addition to single servings of bloody Marys and tequila sunrises.

Les Guingeuttes will be at the Sud-Ouest's Parc de l'Ancienne-cour-de-triage until June 27.

Additional terrasses will open:

  • at the Sud-Ouest's Lien Nord from July 7 to 25;

  • at Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles's Parc Saint-Joseph from September 15 to October 3;

  • and at Parc Jean-Drapeau beginning June 19.
