If elected as mayor of Montreal in the upcoming election, Denis Coderre said he would ban all alcohol consumption in Montreal parks after 8 p.m. — and it's safe to say Mayor Valérie Plante isn't on board with such an idea.

In the hours following Coderre's announcement, Plante posted a story on Instagram trolling his proposal.

A translated version of her caption reads, "It's nice out, it's hot! Don't forget to stay hydrated. Even after 8 p.m." The mayor included a winky face at the end of the post.

Coderre's team told MTL Blog that his limiting alcohol consumption proposal is meant to provide police in Montreal with the tools to "help citizens regain a sense of calm."

Plante doesn't appear to have any plans to enforce a ban on drinking in Montreal parks after 8 p.m. if re-elected.
