Montreal is giving Eataly a run for its money with a new 5,000-square-foot authentic Italian market, located on the ground floor of the Roccabella Condos on rue de la Montagne.

Italimenti, which opened in March, offers high-end gourmet imports from Italy — including fresh pasta made in-store daily, imported cheese and ready-made food.

Italimenti's food, desserts and other products, according to founder Joe R. Occhiuto, showcase different culinary regions of Italy.

The store includes an upscale prêt-à-manger counter for 'classic and modern' Italian dishes made to-go, whether for lunch or dinner.

Italimenti's Salumi e Formaggi counter features fine Italian, French and Quebec cheeses — from firm to creamy products — as well as Italian cold cuts sliced upon request.

The store also has a fresh pasta laboratory with over 30 different varieties of pasta, made with both traditional flour and vegetable flours for 'healthier' pasta.

Made from a hand-kneaded crust, the store's special formula uses a small amount of natural yeast and minimal gluten for a light and fluffy dough.

In addition to fresh food, Italimenti has a gift and kitchenware counter, a selection of the finest imported olive oils and balsamic vinegars, pasta and sauce brands, and gluten-free Italian products.

For sweet-toothed-Montrealers, the store's Pane e Dolci bakery offers freshly-baked bread, homemade cannoli, and Neapolitan sfogliatelle.

Its Italian-inspired coffee counter serves Lavazza’s best premium Kafa coffee to wash it all down.
