The province reported 2,247 new cases of COVID-19 on December 22, beating its December 21 record of 2,183 new cases. This is the highest one-day increase since the start of the pandemic in March.

Quebec also reported 74 new COVID-related deaths in the province, with 11 occurring in the last 24 hours.
Fifty-six of those deaths occurred between December 16 and December 21, while five occurred prior to December 16. Two more deaths occurred at an unknown date.
New hospitalizations increased by 12, for a total of 1,067 patients in Quebec hospitals being treated for COVID-19.
On December 22, the province administered 1,891 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 for a total of 7,229 doses given to Quebecers since the vaccine became available.
Montreal reported 799 new cases of COVID-19, a slight dip from the 893 new cases reported on December 22.
