The SPVM Seized 220 kg Of 'Illegal Shisha Tobacco' Which Resulted in 6 Arrests

A whole lot of cash was seized, too.

A series of raids from February to March conducted by the SPVM's investigators from the ACCES and Proceeds of Crime Unit resulted in the seizure of "220 kg of illegal shisha tobacco, eight vehicles used for contraband and nearly $12,000 in cash."

The police raids were part of an investigation into "an active network of contraband tobacco distributors," which, according to the SPVM, had several dealers in Montreal.

Six suspects were arrested and are expected to face criminal charges and possible imprisonment. 

"A garage in a commercial building on Boulevard L'Acadie, in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, and a residence on rue de Montigny, in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles, were used of caches to the network, which mainly sourced from Ontario," explained the SPVM.
