Whether you're having a baby soon, fantasizing about your future with a crush who doesn't know you exist, or simply enjoy gawking at people's life choices, you're going to want to take a look at Quebec's annual ranking of the province's most popular baby names.

This week, Retraite Québec unveiled its list of the 100 most popular baby names of 2023 and, oh baby, are they... very easily guessable — especially, if you interact with young children on a regular basis, say if you're a teacher or if you have a lot of friends with young kids.

For boys, the top five hasn't changed since 2018 — the names have remained the same with only the order varying from year to year. For girls, the top six has stayed the same, in varying orders, since 2021.

So, depending on the type of person you are, here's a list of baby names you can either use as inspiration or avoid at all costs. These are the most popular baby names of last year.

*The number in brackets represents the number of babies given a particular name in 2023.

As for boys, there will once again be plenty of Noahs in the classroom over the next few years. This name has been an unchallenged number one since 2021. Liam moved up one place in 2023 to second position, while William fell from second to fifth.
All in all, Retraite Québec recorded 9,260 different baby names for girls and 8,596 different baby names for boys — a total of 17,856 names — last year. To put that into context, a total of 77,950 babies were born in Quebec the same year.
If you want to get more inspo, or see how Quebec compares to the rest of the country, you can check out the list of 2023's top 100 baby names in Canada that BabyCenter released earlier this year.

Spoiler: There are definitely some familiar baby names that are clearly beloved beyond just Quebec. We're looking at you, Noah.
