This Quebec City amusement park has steampunk-themed rides and year-round ice skating

The spokeless Ferris wheel and steam engine roller coaster are among the quirkiest attractions.

Welcome to Méga Parc, where the industrial revolution looks like it got stuck in a loop on a Ferris wheel. The indoor Quebec City amusement park is a throwback to a bygone era that never quite was, packed neatly within a commercial juggernaut.

You'll find the mechanical-themed fun fair inside Les Galeries de la Capitale, which might as well be crowned the king of malls in Eastern Canada, sprawling nearly two million square feet.

Visitors first encounter the "Zenith," a Ferris wheel without spokes, soaring 75 feet high with gondolas crafted from what seems to be sheets of corrugated iron.

Steampunk vibes run rampant with over a dozen themed rides. There’s a double-decker carousel that could be straight out of a Jules Verne novel.

The "Electro" roller coaster pays homage to the steam train era, racing through the indoor park at 50 km/h. If that’s not enough to raise your hair, the "Force G" will spin you until gravity is a distant memory, and the "Piston" will drop you in a heart-stopping spiral.

"Télégraphe" is an aerial roller coaster that passes through the Ferris wheel, adding a bit of drama to an already visually arresting ride. For those who prefer their fun with neon lights, the bumper cars offer a glow-in-the-dark escapade.

Not just limited to rides, the park also includes a 750 ft skating track available all year round. The "Patinarium" charges a general admission of $6.50, with a discounted rate of $4.35 for visitors over 55 on select weekdays. While you can't buy tickets online, the facility offers skate rentals and sharpening services, along with helmets and skating aids, so you have everything you need for a day on the ice.

Across the rest of the park, access to the rides depends on your height. Adults and those over 44 inches tall can opt for a wristband priced at $26.99 for full-day access or $18.99 for a 90-minute visit.

For those measuring between 36 and 44 inches, the cost decreases slightly to $22.99 for the day or $14.99 for a short visit. There's also a special rate for adult chaperones at $10.99 for the day and $8.99 for a stop-in.

If your ideal day includes strapping into a Victorian fantasy while surrounded by retail outlets, Méga Parc might just be worth the paradox.
