After the Montreal Canadiens won Game 2 against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday, Premier François Legault tweeted that he hopes for a parade if the Habs win the Stanley Cup and "if Dr. Arruda is willing."

"And that's 6! [...] 10 more to go for the Cup... and the parade... if Dr. Arruda is willing...," Legault wrote.

In a May 14 interview on Radio-Canada's Tout le Matin, Dr. Horacio Arruda suggested that the end of mandatory masks is "coming" in Quebec, depending on how the situation evolves and possibly subject to certain conditions.

Responding to a question about whether or not Quebec will remove mandatory masking for fully vaccinated people like the CDC in the United States recently did, Arruda said that "it's coming to Quebec, I don't want to tell you that it's not coming, there will be relief [in] all sorts of activities and measures."

As spring approaches and the vaccine becomes available to the general population, Montrealers are waiting for news about whether their favourite Quebec festivals will be able to make their long-awaited return this summer.

On Thursday, National Public Health Director Dr. Horacio Arruda offered a bit of clarity as to how officials will go about making that decision.

During Premier Legault's announcement on February 2, we found out that hairdressers, museums and non-essential stores will be allowed to reopen throughout the entire province "from February 8." Meanwhile, the reopening of restaurants and gyms in Quebec will only be permitted in six regions.

And Montreal is sadly not included in that list.

While the government is going to permit limited gatherings during the holiday season in Quebec, National Public Health Director Dr. Horacio Arruda and Premier François Legault made clear that zone-to-zone travel will still be discouraged in the month ahead.

According to current rules, travelling red-zone residents aren't allowed to take part in any activities that are banned in their own region.

In a press conference on November 12, Premier François Legault refrained from responding to a media question on business closures in Quebec because, he said, it's what his communications coach would want him to do.

A journalist asked whether the premier was considering closing businesses at the same time as potential school closures in Quebec might occur.

"My communications coach would suggest not answering this hypothetical question," he said.

Quebecers know Dr. Horacio Arruda as the province's public health director. Although he has sworn in front of Health Minister Christian Dubé, been made into memes and been carved into a pumpkin, we generally see Arruda on the news or in press conferences, in a rather serious setting.

That's why it's so cringe-worthy to watch him get prank called by Sébastien Trudel, one of the hosts of Montreal radio station ÉNERGIE 94.3.

Federal health officials have tweaked a couple of COVID-19 guidelines in the past few days. First, Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada's Chief Public Health Officer, recommended the use of three-layer masks. Then, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) updated its page with the "main modes of transmission" to include air droplets aka aerosols.

But, as most of us know, our provincial government doesn't always agree with the federal government. So what is Quebec's current take on the new guidelines?

On October 15, a group of Quebecers found out Public Health Director Horacio Arruda's home address and began protesting in front of his home.

The protestors allegedly "chanted about wanting a public debate on the guidelines" and made their disagreement with current public health rules known.

This spring, Quebec's director of public health, Dr. Horacio Arruda, received a wave of love from Quebecers who made sweaters, loaves of bread and boxers in his image.

The frenzy continues, but this time, a Quebec woman's creation nods at this year's unusual Halloween.

Andrée-Anne Martel, a resident of Saint-Bruno in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, has created a pumpkin version of Dr. Arruda, and we must say it looks a lot like him!

Quebecers hoping for a respite to the lockdown might be disappointed.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Dr. Horacio Arruda, Director of Quebec's public health organization, said that it could be a while before Quebecers have the same "freedom as in the summer."
