The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is currently investigating a stabbing that occurred in Île Bizard early Saturday morning.

According to SPVM spokesperson Gabriella Youakim, 911 received a call around 1 a.m. regarding a man being stabbed in the upper body. Officers responded to rue Cherrier in the Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève borough.

"We will not accept, as a government, that Montreal becomes a shooting range for gangs," Quebec Premier François Legault wrote on Twitter in the aftermath of two deadly, broad-daylight shootings in Montreal on Tuesday.

The SPVM has published its annual report, noting 2,365 reports of sexual assault and 14,233 reports of other assaults in 2021 — 32.2% and 22.6% higher, respectively, than the five-year average. The Montreal police force counted 36 homicides in 2021, compared to 25 in 2020.

It also tallied 2,102 aggravated thefts, a number higher than that in 2020 (1,983) but 14.5% lower than the five-year average.

A 34-year-old man has died after getting shot in the Montreal borough of Lachine Monday night. The incident represents the Agglomeration of Montreal's 11th homicide of the year, according to the SPVM.

Police say they found the victim after responding to an 11:30 p.m. 911 call concerning a gunshot and an injured individual near the intersection of rue Richmond and avenue Saint-Pierre at the eastern end of the borough.

One man is dead after a shooting in Saint-Michel Wednesday. Montreal police's spokesperson said authorities received a 911 call about possible gunshots at the corner of avenue Shelley and boulevard Crémazie at around 4:25 p.m.

In a February 11 press release, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) detailed a series of operations that led to the arrest of 10 suspects throughout the Montreal region between February 6 and 10.

Throughout the operations, the SPVM seized a total of 11 firearms, which included several handguns, retractable knives, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, police said.

Montreal police have confirmed the city's second homicide of 2022. According to SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils, authorities responded to several 911 calls concerning gunshots on rue Marie-Rollet near boulevard Guy-Bouchard in the borough of LaSalle at around 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, February 10.

Police arrived to find a 46-year-old male victim inside a residential garage with gunshot wounds. The victim was brought to the hospital and later died. Chèvrefils said he was known to the police.
