The data was collected between April 1 and November 1. It includes 911 calls as well as online complaints about indoor and outdoor gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

December is generally a month spent with loved ones, wrapping up the past year while setting intentions for the new one. But with holiday gatherings cancelled in Quebec red zones, it's bound to be different this time around.

Since 2020 was a rollercoaster shitshow — complete with a global pandemic, devastating wildfires, mass protests and murder hornets — it's safe to assume the world is ready to throw this year into the trash where it belongs.

A First Nation is voicing anger and frustration after the province rejected a proposal for better health care access for Indigenous people because it would mean acknowledging the existence of systemic racism in Quebec.

The Atikamekw Nation presented the proposal called "Joyce’s Principle" to the province on November 16. On November 24, a motion was presented by Liberal MP Gregory Kelley to recognize and apply the principle, a motion which was rejected, seemingly because it explicitly calls for a clear acknowledgment of systemic racism by the state.*

Since most of us spend all of our time at one of the many grocery stores in Montreal right now, MTL Blog thought it would be important to inform readers of which ones have had employees test positive for COVID-19 since November 17.

We chose this date as our point of reference with the necessary 14-day quarantine in mind.

Vaccine talk has ramped up in the past couple of weeks, following announcements that a Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, as well as a Moderna vaccine, appear to be over 90% effective against COVID-19.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau even said today that, if everything goes as planned, the majority of Canadians could be vaccinated by September 2021.

The City of Longueuil has decided to relocate some deer that were overpopulating a local park in Quebec rather than carry out a "control operation," as previously planned, that would see them culled.

Mayor of Longueuil Sylvie Parent announced her decision in a Facebook post on November 23.

The city received severe backlash and threats from Quebecers in response to its decision to euthanize the problematic deer overpopulating Parc Michel-Chartrand and donate the game meat to local food banks.

In a press conference on November 24, Premier François Legault outlined regions of Quebec where COVID-19 cases are especially high — and according to him, they are not urban centres.

Legault said the six regions that are having trouble bringing down the curve of the second wave are: Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Estrie, Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Lanaudière, Bas-Saint-Laurent, and Sorel-Tracy in Montérégie.
