Canada Day lands on a Tuesday this year. And in Montreal, it's more than just a stat holiday — it's also moving day.
Every July 1, thousands of Montreal residents pack up, load moving trucks, and swap apartments — all while the city marks Canada's birthday with fireworks, festivals, and a much-needed day off. So, whether you're celebrating, relocating, or just trying to grab groceries, it's good to know that many places in Montreal will be operating on a holiday schedule.
To help you plan ahead and avoid surprises, here's a quick look at what's open and closed in Montreal this Canada Day.
