Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for much of southwestern Quebec, including Montreal. The announcement comes ahead of what it says is a low-pressure system that could bring an early-spring-like "mix of precipitation" by the end of the week. Looks like Montreal weather is about to get gross.

The federal weather department is currently forecasting freezing rain, but the system and accompanying temperatures so far are casting some doubt on that assessment. The seven-day forecast for Montreal shows temperatures swinging from daytime highs of 4 C on Wednesday and Thursday and -3 C on Friday, to a frigid Friday nighttime low of -14 C.

The first big winter storm of the season could be imminent. MétéoMédia is tracking two systems that it says could hit a high-pressure wall over Quebec, forcing them to slowly "drag" over the province and unload copious precipitation.

The site explained Monday that one of those systems remains "volatile" and could change course, and, at the time of writing, Environment Canada hasn't issued any storm alerts for southern Quebec. But if all goes as MétéoMédia says it might, we could be in for up to 30 centimetres of snow this week.

Spring has officially sprung in Montreal, and as the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers, right? Well, it appears as if the saying is true when it comes to the upcoming Montreal weather forecast.

Environment Canada has put a rainfall warning into effect for the city of Montreal and surrounding areas for Thursday and Friday.

Well, just when you thought that the spring weather was here to stay, it seems as if the Quebec weather said "psych b*tch!" Environment and Climate Change Canada has officially issued a special weather warning for various regions across the province that could possibly receive freezing rain.

Montreal is expected to receive freezing rain starting as early as Wednesday evening.

Getting tired of winter clothes, snow and freezing temperatures? You'll be happy to know that MétéoMédia's Quebec weather forecast for spring was updated on Saturday. Not only does this mean mild weather is likely just around the corner, but it also means it should stick around for the long haul sooner than expected.

MétéoMédia had originally predicted a cool Quebec spring in 2022 due to an atmospheric current that would bring "Arctic air descents" into the province. However, the weather agency says the Alaskan ridge has "receded," bringing the cold further west. As a result, it says the jet stream can allow more mild air to move up from the south into Quebec.

Oh, you thought that double-digit positive temperatures meant we had finally turned a corner? Hahaha. No. MétéoMédia and Environment Canada Montreal weather forecasts show a possibility for even more snowfall this weekend, Saturday, March 19, and Sunday, March 20.

The good news is that it seems an incoming low-pressure system is still too far out for meteorologists to definitively say whether the city will be snowy or just rainy.

February's weather was... extra. We had snow. We had freezing rain. We had regular rain. Heck, we even had fog — remember that? Luckily, the month ahead is looking to be way more basic. Here's what to expect from Montreal weather in March.

On average, the Island of Montreal and the surrounding areas saw 55 centimetres of snow come down this month, according to Environment Canada meteorologist André Cantin. We had 49 millimetres of rain, which was a lot — the average for February is only 20.9 millimetres. Despite some truly frigid days, the average temperature for the month was -7.5 C, which is actually above the typical average of -7.7 C.

Well, we couldn't avoid it forever. The worst of Montreal winter temperatures will start to creep in next week following a relatively mild start to the season, according to a Weather Network forecast published January 5. It says the city could see its coldest weather in four years as Arctic air moves east after pummelling Western Canada.

That cold air pocket will glide across Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada, The Weather Network says.

Montreal is colder than Moscow on Monday. According to Environment Canada, temperatures in Quebec's metropolis plunged to an icy -16 C (-20 windchill) at 10:00 a.m. while, at the same time, the Russian capital enjoyed a balmy -9 C (-16 windchill), per The Weather Network.

Montreal is colder than other stereotypically frigid European cities too, including Helsinki (where it's -3 C, according to The Weather Network), Saint Petersburg (-6 C) and the northern Norway municipality of Tromsø (-13 C per The Weather Channel).

Attachez bien vos tuques. Literally. Environment Canada's Quebec forecast shows a winter storm heading our way. And it might not always be pretty.

The federal weather agency says it's tracking a system moving up from Colorado that'll reach the western part of the province on Sunday and the east on Monday. It could bring with it snow, rain and freezing rain, as well as strong wind and blowing snow, according to Environment Canada.

Don't pack away your light coat, rain boots and umbrellas just yet. You might unfortunately still need them if The Weather Network's Quebec winter weather forecast holds up.

A national winter weather outlook released November 29 warns of "a stormy winter [...] broken up at times by extended periods of rather mild temperatures."
