Health Canada has issued several recall warnings for baby cribs sold across Canada due to reasons that pose serious health and safety risks.

The federal health agency urges Canadian consumers to verify if they have any recalled products from brands including Crate & Barrel, Shandi and Costway.

The baby cribs have been recalled due to possible strangulation, entrapment, and fall hazards. Health Canada recommends that you stop using the affected items immediately and return them to their point of purchase for a refund.

  • Shandi 0-25 kg Big Space Electric Baby Crib Cradle Infant Rocker Auto Swing Bed Baby Cradle | Features portable electric cradle features, five swing speeds and 12 built-in songs with Bluetooth/USB connection functions.

Recall Reason: Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has determined that these cradles do not meet the Cribs, Cradles and Bassinets Regulations in Canada. Specifically, the product contains a restraint system which is not allowed as it poses a risk of entanglement and strangulation.

Recall Reason: According to Health Canada, the crib mattress supports may loosen, dislodge, or sustain damage, creating a risk of falls and entrapment. As of March 27, 2024, in Canada, the company received 2 reports of faulty screws connecting the mattress support to the crib, 1 report of damaged support, and no injuries. In the United States, there were 12 reports of loose or dislodged supports, 1 report of damaged support, and no injuries.

Recall Reason: Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has determined that these products do not meet the Cribs, Cradles and Bassinets Regulations in Canada. Specifically, the cradle's sleep surface provides an incline angle greater than seven degrees, posing a risk of entrapment and suffocation to the child.
