With a new year comes a new set of destinations worth checking off your travel bucket list.

Travel Lemming, an online travel guide, ranked the 50 Best Places To Visit In 2024, and one Canadian destination made the cut. While cities such as Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal are total must-sees when visiting Canada, it appears as if a more underrated spot is getting some much-deserved recognition.

"This year, our list is filled with places perfect for longer trips and embracing a slower – and more sustainable – pace of travel," Travel Lemming wrote. And one of the places perfect for longer trips just so happens to be in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Located on the eastern tip of Canada, facing the North Atlantic Ocean is the quaint city of St. John's. Renowned for its fresh seafood, stunning landscapes and nature, as well as traditions that are "as old as time."

Travel Lemming says that the perfect time to visit St. John's is between May and September — when you can set your sights on attractions including Signal Hill, which offers gorgeous views of the surrounding areas, Cape Spear where you'll find a remarkable lighthouse and the East Coast Trail, where you can explore hidden coves.

The travel publication also recommends trying out St. John's selection of craft beers, particularly at the Quidi Vidi Brewery. For those who enjoy the historical aspects of travelling, a visit to The Rooms museum is a total must. And for cliffside views, a drive by the Irish Loop will certainly be the cherry on top of your trip.

The list included an array of destinations far and wide, such as Kodiak, Alaska, Yucatán, Mexico, Stavanger, Norway, Phú Qúoc, Vietnam, Tunis, Tunisia, and Ljubljana, Slovenia, to name a few.

Major Montreal road closures are coming this weekend — along with a full REM shutdown

Anyone heading to the West Island, South Shore, or crossing through central Montreal should give themselves extra time.
