Legendary rapper Busta Rhymes showed up at a Montreal nightclub unexpectedly over the weekend, surprising local party-goers with a live freestyle and showering the city with major love.

Rhymes was in town for a Missy Elliott concert at Montreal's Centre Bell on August 17, which featured himself as well as Ciara and Timbaland. But a member of the JEGantic marketing team told MTL Blog that he arrived in la belle province a day early, opting to spend part of his night at the hospitality group's downtown supper club Yoko Luna.

"Busta came in towards the later part of the night, very low-key, and sipped on Grey Goose," JEGantic Group said in a statement via Instagram, noting that the hip-hop artist heard about Yoko Luna because 50 Cent and French Montana had both recently visited.

"He liked the vibes, and when the lights turned on, he joined DJ Marcel Wynn in the booth and decided it was showtime."

A video posted to Instagram shows Rhymes at Yoko Luna between Friday night and Saturday morning, holding a microphone at the DJ booth while wearing a large, sparkly chain.

In his iconic deep voice, Rhymes is heard saying, "I don’t even know what the curfew [closing time] is in Montreal, Canada, but I don’t care. Let me tell you what I care about: I care about the people, I care about the city, I care about the country. I care about the love.”

JEGantic Group said Rhymes also performed a live freestyle in addition to some of his hits, including "Ante Up (Remix)" and "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See."

"The President of JEGantic Group, John Gumbley, was in the record business when he was young and has been operating clubs in Montreal for years. Because of this, he has many contacts and references, so it’s not unusual for celebrities to reach out directly or to an immediate team member," JEGantic Group explained.

However, the team insisted Busta Rhymes' appearance was "completely unannounced."

"It was a legendary night," JEGantic Group said.
