You Can Have A Taco Picnic At Mount Royal's Beaver Lake Among The Fall Colours This Year

Because hiking works up an appetite.
Staff Writer

One of the few things we can still actually enjoy while the weather is chilly is a hike up Mount Royal. For a lot of Montrealers, there's nothing like exploring our own backyard and seeing the fall colours completely transform the mountain. As an added bonus, this year's new fall programming on Mount Royal includes a taco picnic at Beaver Lake.

A "tempting" variety of picnic boxes awaits all autumn hikers at the Beaver Lake Pavilion, where you can snack on scrumptious pulled pork tacos, vegan sandwiches and shrimp rolls. It's pretty much the perfect complement to a bottle of wine or some hot cider

While you can definitely take a huge road trip to check out the fall colours, why not skip the long drive and take a long hike up the mountain?

If you're not an experienced Mount Royal hiker or if this is your first autumn in Montreal, Les Amis de la Montagne has a variety of guided tours available for you starting this October.

And make sure you grab a taco after your tour.

The picnic boxes are available every day, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Along with the selection of tacos, sandwiches, and snacks available at the Beaver Lake Pavilion, ice cream is on the menu throughout fall at the chalet near the Kondiaronk Lookout.

For those of you looking to snuggle up, a taco picnic and hike is the perfect date idea.

If you're a little daunted about exploring the mountain all by yourself, you can choose from one of three guided tours starting in October.

Take a 14-km day-long excursion through the mountain, hitting the hotspots and all the little-known curiosities.
