Fried chicken joints have been popping up across Montreal. From Saint-Henri to Sainte-Catherine to Chinatown, the sweet, peppery aroma of fresh hot crispy chicken is blowing through the streets. Now, with the arrival of Jack le coq, it's Verdun's turn.

The new restaurant has opened up shop at the corner of Wellington and Willibrord at the former location of one of Quebec's last remaining Dunkin' Donuts.

The restaurant prides itself on its "100% québécois" chicken and "comforting" local food that it says differentiates it from "the commercial chicken of [its] competitors."

It also promises bigger chicken pieces.

With its wide range of options, the menu shows just how serious Jack le coq is about its meat.

Customers can choose from seven different chicken sandwiches, nine different sauces and for the traditionalists, straight-up boxes of chicken that come in six different sizes.

Photos shared with MTL Blog show a restaurant interior that nods to classic Quebec diners and casse-croûtes with checkered flooring, wood paneling, neon lights, and retro counter seating.
