Daily COVID-19 Cases In Quebec Have Dipped Below 2,000 For Almost A Week
The province has reported fewer than 2,000 daily COVID-19 cases in Quebec for almost a week now, after frequently reporting more than 2,000 new cases per day — and sometimes more than 3,000 — over the past month or so.
Quebec recorded 1,631 new COVID-19 cases on January 21, marking the sixth consecutive day that new cases of the virus have remained below 2,000.

The dip comes almost two weeks into Quebec's stricter lockdown period, running from January 9 through February 8, which includes a night-time curfew and the closure of all non-essential businesses.
COVID-19 hospitalizations in Quebec have remained stable over the past week, fluctuating between 1,400 and 1,500.
Four COVID-19 patients left intensive care units on January 21, for a current total of 212 patients being treated in Quebec ICUs.
The province reported 88 new COVID-19-related deaths — however, 37 of those deaths came from a delayed data transfer and took place between December 6 and January 17.
In a press conference on January 21, Premier François Legault pointed out that 80% of COVID-19 hospitalizations in the province are comprised of Quebecers aged 65 and over.
He also noted that 95% of COVID-19 deaths in Quebec were found in the same age group.
Montreal reported 681 new cases of COVID-19 on January 21, a slight jump from the 679 cases reported on January 20.
New cases in the city averaged 622 per day over the last five days.
Since January 15, 73,554 Quebecers have received a COVID-19 vaccine, for a total of 200,627 doses administered.
