It's safe to say that a couple from Edmonton, Alberta were not "loving it" following a McDonald's drive-thru altercation currently going viral on TikTok.

The TikTok, posted by @Sarah_Conner1 has already gained more than two million views and over 80,000 likes and is leaving many Canadians feeling "embarrassed."

So, what exactly happened?

This article contains content that may be upsetting to some of our readers.

Based on the three-minute-long TikTok, an Edmonton couple was requested by a McDonald's drive-thru attendant to park in a reserved area of the lot while they waited for their food to be ready.

This is a common practice at McDonald's, particularly for them to keep things moving as swiftly as possible.

The duo made it clear they did not want to park in the reserved area, and insisted on waiting at the window for their food to be ready or be given a full cash refund. The only problem is…they paid debit.

"If you're telling me you're not giving me my food, I want my money back," the driver said to the drive-thru worker.

"I didn't say that," the worker immediately replied. "I just requested you to park for fresh food," they explained.

It was at this point that the passenger in the car began to yell at the drive-thru worker, saying that this was not a "celebrity McDonald's, this is Edmonton, Alberta, girl…"

The drive-thru worker, who audibly had a different accent than the Edmonton couple, was then told to "learn English."

"Get a career and do something for your life. You're so sad it's not even funny. Anyways, grab us our food," the passenger continued.

The driver then interjected demanding a cash refund, claiming they had now "lost" their debit card — despite confirming that the passenger had paid with their phone, which was in their hand recording the drive-thru worker.

Insisting on being given a refund, the McDonald's employee extended the payment terminal to the customers multiple times for them to tap the phone and process the refund.

"I can't find it, sorry," the driver said, referencing the "lost" debit card. "Give us cash back, sweetie or we're not moving," the passenger said.

The altercation went back and forth for a while, with the Edmonton resident threatening to sue the drive-thru worker and McDonald's, all while making it clear they have "50,000 followers on Instagram."

The comments were filled with Canadians who could not have been more "embarrassed" for the couple.

"All of a sudden I’m embarrassed to be living in Edmonton," one person wrote. "I’m embarrassed for them," another comment said.

Surely fast food workers don't make nearly enough to put up with these antics.
