Montreal weather is gloomy through next week, but at least temps will be warmer

After a surprise mid-week snow, Montreal’s weather is continuing its unpredictable streak. On Saturday, the city will see a dramatic shift from clear, sunny skies to a week filled with clouds and rain, according to Environment Canada. While the temperatures suggest an early taste of summer, the overcast conditions might just dampen spirits.

The weekend will kick off on a high note with the sun out in full force on April 27, suggesting perfect conditions to hit the trails or enjoy a picnic in the park. However, by late afternoon, a looming low pressure system will usher in grey skies and the promise of precipitation.

Montrealers can expect a 60 percent chance of showers into the evening. The following day, the city remains under a veil of clouds with intermittent showers, despite a hopeful high of 22 C.

Météomédia reports potential thunderstorms sweeping across the province. The combination of heat and humidity ahead of the weather front might trigger thunderstorms, especially over western regions initially before moving north.

These storms could bring significant rainfall, particularly in regions like Abitibi-Témiscamingue, where up to 30 mm of rain could accumulate. For now, Montreal is expected to get around five millimetres.

As the new week rolls in, the pattern of clouds and occasional rain is expected to persist. Monday will see the mercury drop to 12 C with cloudy skies. Tuesday and Wednesday don’t offer much respite from the rain and showers, briefly hitting a high of 23 C.

Thursday is unlikely to break the trend either, with cloudy skies and a 60 percent chance of showers. Temperatures will hover around 17 C, continuing the damp conditions that will characterize much of the week.
