34 workers at McDonald’s restaurants across Quebec have tested positive for COVID-19 since Christmas Eve, as of the time of writing.

That means Quebec’s locations have recorded the highest number of confirmed cases in the country over the last 14 days, ahead of the 28 reported in Ontario, according to the company’s COVID-19 case tracker.

“We’ve maintained a commitment to remain transparent in our communications, so that employees and guests are informed and can contact their local public health authorities for directions, if needed,” McDonald’s Canada states on its website.

Three of the reported COVID-19 infections were at the same restaurant in Thetford Mines.

The first case at the 176 boulevard Frontenac location was confirmed on December 25, the next on December 30, and the third on January 4, according to the company.

Five cases were linked to locations in Laval, including three employees at the 2005 Boulevard Saint-Martin restaurant, two of who tested positive on January 3.

There have also been a number of cases in Montreal, Quebec City and other parts of the province.

McDonald's is asking any guests who may have visited the locations to follow the advice of public health officials.

When an employee tests positive, the restaurant is temporarily closed to undergo a “thorough cleaning by a certified third-party company,” the company says.
