On Tuesday, Health Minister Chrisitan Dubé addressed the province once again and presented a bleak outlook on the COVID-19 situation in Quebec. 

Dubé said the "situation is [...] very worrying" and according to him, the province could "hit a wall" in January if it doesn't improve.

The health minister also asked the federal government to instigate new measures for travellers to Quebec to prevent a surge of COVID-19 similar to the one the province saw after spring break. 

With over 2,000 new cases per day for the past week in the province, Dubé was also concerned that hospitals wouldn't be able to keep up with the demand. 

"The number of hospitalizations in Quebec continues to increase," he said, adding that "an overrun of dedicated capacity cannot be ruled out, especially since around half of the designated beds are already occupied."

As of December 29, 1,131 people are hospitalized in Quebec for COVID-19-related issues. 

"The only way not to hit a wall in January is to follow public health guidelines," he concluded.
