Laval Is FINALLY Getting Its First SQDC Store

Maybe even in time for 4/20.
Reporter

Laval cannabis lovers, rejoice! A new Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC) location is set to open in Laval this spring — which means residents of Laval and the surrounding areas will finally be able to pick up cannabis locally in the coming months.

This is Laval's first SQDC branch. It will be located in the Sainte-Dorothée district.

Early Spring 2021 Expected opening date of the SQDC's new Laval location

Vanessa Roland, a spokesperson for the SQDC, told MTL Blog the opening of the SQDC's new location will create 15 jobs in Laval.

As required by Quebec law, Roland said the shop will not be in a zone with schools nearby.

She said the Laval location will have the same COVID-19 public health measures in place as SQDC stores across the province, including mandatory face coverings, increased cleaning and reduced product handling.

Between four and seven customers are currently allowed in SQDC stores at one time.

As another sanitary measure, SQDC employees verify customers' identification cards by visual means only.

All of Quebec's SQDC stores are similar, said Roland, noting they carry the same products and have similar layouts and dimensions.

"The Laval store is no exception," she said.

More information will be available in the coming weeks.
