20 Dogs Rescued From A Living Nightmare Are Coming To Montreal To Find Homes
Twenty newly rescued dogs are making their way to the Montreal area via South Korea, where they were rescued from an illegal dog meat farm.
Thanks to LIFE, a Korean animal welfare group, and the Humane Society, they are set to arrive at an emergency shelter near Montreal in the coming weeks and are expected to be up for adoption once they're rehabilitated.

Rescued dogs expected at a shelter near Montreal
According to a press release by Humane Society International (HSI)/Canada, this litter of pups survived particularly gruesome living conditions.
"I have rescued thousands of dogs from many dog meat farms in South Korea, but this place was like hell," said Nara Kim, HSI/Korea’s campaign manager.
"Many of the dogs were just skin and bones, and it was hard to find any 'normal' looking dogs because their bodies were so ravaged by starvation and skin disease."
The press release says they found 100 dogs — poodles, Jindos, Yorkshire terriers, Chihuahuas, Shih Tzus, Pomeranians, Spitz, Schnauzers among other breeds — at the dog meat farm.
It also says LIFE was able to negotiate with the farmer to shut down his dog meat farm. Local police are investigating the farmer for animal cruelty and other charges.
Once the dogs are healthy enough to travel, the plan is to fly them to Canada "for additional care and rehabilitation, before being adopted out to forever families."
