This seems to be a trend across most of Canada. According to the Farmers' Almanac, there will be "greater-than-normal coverage of thunderstorms" over the eastern third of the country and potentially even tornadoes in the Prairies due to severe storms.

Ontario is expected to experience "sweltering heat, frequently" as well as a "showery & thundery" season.

It's projected that the summer heat will build and arrive later than normal, hitting its peak in late August and into early September.
