Health Canada has issued a recall on two styles of candle holders sold at Urban Outfitters in Canada, citing the potential for a fire hazard that could cause injuries and property damage.

The joint recall was publicly issued on December 23 with URBN Canada Retail Inc., which owns brands including Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Free People.

A notice was posted to both the Government of Canada website, as well as the Urban Outfitters website.

The Swirled Taper Candle Holder, which comes in amber and green, and the Sofia Taper Candle Holder, which comes in moss, lavender and peach, caught fire 12 times in the U.S. and twice in the U.K. No injuries were reported.

Health Canada and URBN Canada Retail Inc. say the company has not received any reports of property damage or injury in Canada so far.

The affected products were sold in-store and online between February and October 2020, with 257 units sold in Canada.

"Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund," Health Canada said in its recall statement.

The Swirled candle holders retail for $16 CAD, and the Sofia candle holders retail for $18 CAD.
