Montréal inc. is offering up to $20,000 in non-equity funding to Montreal startups. Its Grant+ competition has funded countless local businesses over the years — but this year,  applications are open to entrepreneurs of all ages, according to a press release.

"Montréal inc. is seeking start-up companies that have already validated the market with a minimum viable product (MVP), are ready to commercialize their product in the short term or have been selling it for less than 12 months," said the press release.

Forty projects will be awarded a $10,000 grant, with the possibility of another $10,000 in a second phase.

$20,000 will be awarded to 40 local businesses

The foundation, which "catalyse[s] the success of young, innovative and ambitious businesses," is also offering coaching services for the winning businesses, as well as access to a network of industry experts, and a "special new component" to help businesses go international.

"We were guided by our desire to contribute to Montréal’s economic recovery by stimulating local entrepreneurship," said executive director Liette Lamonde.

To apply, businesses must assemble documents and a video that showcase innovation, entrepreneur expertise and project viability.

The application period for the Grant+ program began on September 15 and will run through October 29.

Winners will be announced early next year.
