With Montreal moving into red alert, the government has announced a new round of closures for a period of 28 days beginning October 1. For now, Montreal gyms are not among them.

The provincial ministry of health confirmed to MTL Blog that gyms will be able to keep their doors open "until further notice."

Gyms remain open until further notice.

Gyms "must comply with the standards already in force," the ministry made clear.

As for what will be closing, the list includes all bars, casinos, restaurant dining rooms, theatres, museums, and cinemas.

People will no longer be allowed to have guests for this four-week period. The government is asking that citizens only see people from their households, with only a few exceptions.

Most activities and events must be cancelled, as well, except for places of worship and funerals, which will have a 25-person limit.

These new rules will be in place in the Montreal metro area (CMM), Chaudière-Appalaches, and part of the Capitale-Nationale from October 1 to October 28.
