The ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation de Québec (MAPAQ) has recalled several dairy products sold across the province for reasons that could pose a serious health and safety risk to Quebec consumers.

MAPAQ is currently ensuring that the affected cheese products are being properly removed from the marketplace, which includes two grocery stores in Montreal and one in Laval. The dairy products are being recalled for reasons including microbial contamination and undeclared ingredients.

Here are the recalled food items to look out for.

  • Kingsey Fromage en grain | All units sold up until March 28, 2024

Recall Reason: The cheese curd product is being recalled as its label lacks essential information on its raw nature and safe cooking instructions. Additionally, this product may contain eggs, posing a severe risk to individuals with egg allergies, as allergen information might not be disclosed on the label.

What You Need To Do: MAPAQ is informing consumers to refrain from eating the recalled product, which was sold at Euromarché St-Michel, located at 10181, boulevard Saint-Michel in Montreal.

Recall Reason: The cheese product is being recalled across Quebec due to microbial contamination. According to MAPAQ, food poisoning caused by staphylococci is characterized by a sudden onset of nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, cramps and diarrhea. Symptoms usually appear 30 minutes to 8 hours after eating contaminated food and disappear after 24 hours.

What You Need To Do: Anyone in possession of the product is advised not to consume it. They should return it to the establishment where they bought it or throw it away. The recalled product was sold at Fromagerie du Vieux St-François, located at 4740, boulevard des Mille-Îles in Laval.

  • Yogurt with honey, granola, blackberry and raspberry | All lots that do not include soy, gluten, and nuts on their label

Recall Reason: The recalled product, which was sold at Magasin Lagoria Viau Inc. (L'intermarché Lagoria), located at 8530, boulevard Viau in Montreal, is being recalled as it contains soy, gluten and peanuts, which are not properly labelled on the packaging.

What You Need To Do: This warning applies only to people with an allergy to soy, sulphites or peanuts, or those with celiac disease or another illness induced by the ingestion of gluten. In addition, anyone with one of these products in their possession is advised not to consume it. They should return it to the establishment where they purchased it or throw it away, MAPAQ said.
