Health Canada has issued a consumer product recall warning regarding several electric kettles sold across Canada.

The federal health agency originally published the recall warning on June 6, 2024, which states that the affected kettles are being removed from the marketplace as they pose a fire hazard.

  • 1.7 litre Glass Electric Kettle, Blue LED | Product # JF-788 | UPC 32318527
  • Stainless Steel Kettle, 1.8 Litre | Product # FY-2010C | UPC 32320067

According to Health Canada, it is possible that when the kettle is plugged in, the kettle base can overheat and the plastic on the electrical wire can melt, which can cause a fire hazard.

Important Information: The affected products were sold from January 2023 to May 2024. Per the recall warning page, the company reported that 20,657 units of the affected products were sold in Canada.

As of May 30, 2024, the company has received three incident reports about the base of the kettle overheated during use. However, no injuries have been reported.

What Is Being Done: Health Canada is working alongside Litre Universelle PAGA Inc. (the importer), Ningo Minke Imop & Exp Co. LTD (manufacturer) and Hart stores (the retailer) to ensure that the affected kettles are being properly removed from shelves.
