Good news, cyclists! Montreal BIXI season is now officially in session with over 60% of the network opening Tuesday afternoon (around 549 stations) — the earliest start the city has ever seen.

In addition to announcing the launch of the 2024 season, the bike-sharing service also revealed the dates that the rest of the network will be in service, explained how to find out which stations are currently open, confirmed this season's prices and provided an update on the results of the year-round pilot project.

The wheels of change are spinning in Montreal, and this time, they're winter-proof. BIXI Montreal is pedalling into uncharted territory with a pilot project. For the first time, you can ride regular BIXI bikes all year long, even when Jack Frost is nipping at your nose.

An extended BIXI season begins on November 16 across a 150 km² area in Montreal. You'll have access to 1,500 regular bikes sporting winterized tires and non-slip pedals. Electric bikes, however, will not be available until they return in spring.

BIXI, Montreal's popular bike-sharing program, is officially launching its 2022 season on April 13, two days ahead of schedule. As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, Montrealers will once again be able to take to the city's bike paths with a BIXI rental.

This year, riders can take advantage of 490 more electric bikes, 31 new stations and 765 new docking points, BIXI said in a press release.

BIXI, Montreal's extremely popular bike-sharing program, has announced its 2022 pricing and pre-season deals. Once again this year, Montrealers can take advantage of a 10% discount on a seasonal membership before the spring BIXI launch.

Normally $92, the season-long subscription is $83 until April 15. Otherwise, monthly passes are $18. Both monthly and seasonal pass holders are charged an additional $0.10/minute after 45 minutes on a regular BIXI and $0.12 for every minute on an electric BIXI.
