Hej, Sweden! (That means "Hi, Sweden" if you don't spend as much time at IKEA as we do).

Air Canada is preparing to launch direct flights between Montreal and Stockholm this month, making our gateway to Scandinavia — and to much of Europe, for that matter — all the easier to access during the summer season.

Three weekly flights are set to become the only non-stop routes between Montreal and Stockholm available when service begins on June 14.

According to a press release, Air Canada's flights from Montreal to Stockholm will take off at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays while flights from Stockholm to Montreal will take off at 12:15 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays — all via Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, featuring economy, premium and signature class cabins.

The trip should take seven to eight hours, but since Stockholm is six hours ahead, travellers are expected to arrive in Sweden at 7:05 a.m. the day after departure or be back in Montreal at 2:05 p.m. the day of departure.

Meanwhile, Air Canada is also planning to launch two weekly flights from Toronto to Stockholm as of June 12 as well as to increase capacity on its flights between Toronto and Copenhagen, Denmark.

Seasonal flights between Montreal and Copenhagen will ramp up to five times a week in June.

Seats are currently available for purchase. A search for June flights between Montreal and Stockholm on the Air Canada website shows prices starting at around $600 per person for one-way, based on the purchase of a round-trip ticket.

Bon voyage! Or as the Swedes say, God Rejsa!
