Ford Motor Company has issued a motor vehicle recall that will affect over 90,000 Canadian vehicle owners.

The automaker is recalling Explorer SUV models from 2011 through 2019 due to an issue regarding the trim piece, which could fly off and create a hazard for other drivers.

"An A-pillar exterior trim part that detaches while driving can create a road hazard for other road users, increasing the risk of a crash," Ford said in a shared report.

The recall has affected a total of 1.9 million Explorer SUVs worldwide. However, the total number of affected vehicles in Canada comes in at over 90,000, per CTV News.

Ford says that customers can pinpoint gaps near the loose A-pillar trim or can audibly detect a rattling or wind-like noise from the A-pillar area, which is located near the sides of the front windshield.

Ford has indicated that owners of the affected Explorer SUVs will be notified by mail and instructed to take their recalled car to a Ford or Lincoln dealer nearest to them. When at the dealer, the A-pillar exterior trim will be inspected and replaced "as required."

The motor company has made it clear that there will be absolutely no charge for this service.

Ford is also facing another recall regarding its F-150 models. Per Canada's Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls Database, a total of 20,664 Ford F-150s from 2021, 2022 and 2023 have been recalled across the country due to the potential breakage of the axle hub bolts.

Additionally, over 7,000 Ford Focus vehicles have also been recalled across Canada due to the possible failure of the engine oil pump tensioner.
