Transport Canada has issued several car recalls that pose a serious health and safety risk to Canadian drivers and passengers. Transport Canada has recalled vehicles from car manufacturers including KIA, BMW, Hyundai, Mazda and Nissan, to name a few.

The cars have been recalled across Canada for reasons including issues with the rearview camera, rebooting problems, and faulty high-voltage batteries. It is important to verify if you have any of the recalled vehicles and follow the steps laid out by Transport Canada to remedy the issue(s).

Here are all the details regarding the recalls:

Mazda

Recalled Cars:

  • Mazda 3 2014 to 2021
  • Mazda CX-3 2014 to 2021

Recall Reason: "On certain vehicles, a problem with the rearview camera connector could cause distortion or flickering of the rearview camera image," Transport Canada indicated.

What You Need To Do: Mazda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the rearview camera and install a seal for the wiring harness.

Nissan

Recalled Cars:

  • Nissan Rogue 2021 and 2022
  • Nissan Frontier 2022

Recall Reason: In specific situations, a software issue may lead to the continuous rebooting of the in-vehicle infotainment system. In such instances, the display will fail to show the rearview camera image. It is mandated by Canadian regulations that the rearview image must be visible on the display when the transmission is engaged in reverse gear, the recall page said.

What You Need To Do: Nissan will notify owners by mail and ask you to make an appointment with your local dealer to update the in-vehicle infotainment system software.

Hyundai

Recalled Car:

  • Hyundai Kona 2024

Recall Reason: Per the recall page, the 12 V battery cable(s) could contact the engine control module bracket in the event of a crash. If this happens, there could be a short circuit.

What You Need To Do: Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to install a protective cover on the 12 V battery and alternator positive wiring.

BMW

Recalled Car:

  • BMW R18 2022, 2023 and 2024

Recall Reason: Certain motorcycles may experience damage to the mounting point for the low beam reflector(s) within the headlamp housing, leading to potential breakage. In such instances, the reflector(s) may dislodge from their position, resulting in improper alignment of the low beam, per Transport Canada.

What You Need To Do: BMW Motorrad will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

Ford

Recalled Car:

  • Ford F-150 2022, 2023 and 2024

Recall Reason: According to Transport Canada, "the rear axle hub bolt(s) could break and cause the axle shaft(s) splines to wear. Over time, this could cause the splines to break. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels. Additionally, if the truck is parked and the parking brake isn't applied, the truck could roll away."

What You Need To Do: Ford will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

Volkswagen

Recalled Car:

  • Audi E-TRON 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022

Recall Reason: On certain vehicles, a problem with high-voltage battery module(s) could cause the high-voltage battery to overheat, the recall page warns.

What You Need To Do: Per the recall page, owners will receive notifications from Audi by mail. For a temporary solution, dealers will conduct inspections and, if required, replace the battery modules. When the permanent repair is ready, owners must visit a dealership to install a software update for the high-voltage battery. This software will actively monitor the high-voltage battery and issue warnings if any issues are detected.

Mercedes-Benz

Recalled Car:

  • Mercedes-Benz GLC Class 2023

Recall Reason: "On one vehicle, the wrong screws may have been used to secure the high-pressure fuel pump during assembly. As a result, the high-pressure fuel pump and oil pump may not be properly sealed together. If this happens, fuel and oil could leak," Transport Canada said.

What You Need To Do: Mercedes-Benz will notify the owner by mail and advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the high-pressure fuel pump.

KIA

Recalled Car:

  • KIA Sorento 2011
