An iPhone Charger Has Been Recalled Across Canada Due To Electric Shock

Health Canada has published a consumer product recall regarding an iPhone home charging kit that is currently being removed from the marketplace due to possible electric shock.
The product recall was triggered on February 16, 2024, following Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program that determined that the affected products pose an unreasonable risk to Canadian consumers.
Per Health Canada, the recall involves the following product:
- Trend Logic 2.1A iPhone Home Charging Kit | Dual Port USB | Six-foot cable in black, silver, red and purple options

According to the federal agency, the company reported that 1,440 units of the affected iPhone chargers were sold in Canada between October 2023 to February 2024.
As of February 2, 2024, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
According to Health Canada, consumers should immediately stop using any of the recalled products and dispose of the affected items per municipal electronic waste requirements.
The government health agency did not specify whether a refund would be offered to consumers affected by the recall.
