The month of October is usually synonymous with the start of chilly season. But the Montreal weather forecast this week suggests overcast days coupled with temperatures inching towards the 20° C mark. Montrealers can expect a meteorological mixed bag, starting with a shift from early morning rain to clearer skies.

The week kicked off with early morning rain that should transition into clearer conditions and temperatures reaching highs of 10° C, according to Environment Canada. As night falls, Montrealers might want to grab a jacket with the temperature dipping to a cool 3° C.

Southern winds bring warmth

MétéoMédia indicates that mild air from the southern United States will likely influence Montreal's weather patterns in the upcoming days. Starting Monday, temperatures are set to rise above the seasonal average. The uptick will continue until the end of the week, with temperatures possibly crossing the 20° C mark between Wednesday and Friday.

That warmth might come without much sunshine, however. While the early week might give some glimpses of sun, cloud cover is expected to increase by Wednesday. While Thursday and Friday will likely be the warmest days, they are also forecasted to be the cloudiest.

Final warm days of the season

This week's temperatures might be among the last 20° readings of the season. As November approaches, colder air is predicted to dominate. Based on the past two decades, the province usually experiences its last 20° C days between October 9 and 22.

A look ahead

While this week offers a chance to enjoy milder temperatures, don't be surprised by a cooler transition closer to November.

Tuesday should see a bright, sunny day with temperatures climbing to a pleasant 13° C. As night approaches, however, the skies are expected to cloud over, and temperatures will settle at around 10° C. That warmth might come without much sunshine.

By Wednesday, while the temperatures are forecasted to reach a comfortable 18° C, there's a 40% chance of showers, so don't forget your umbrella. Evening temperatures will linger around 14° C, with the cloud cover persisting and the same chance of rain.

Despite Thursday and Friday potentially being the warmest days, reaching highs of 20° C and 21° C respectively, they are also forecasted to be the cloudiest. Nighttime during these midweek days will see temperatures of 16° C on Thursday and a slightly cooler 12°C on Friday, with a 30% chance of nighttime showers to end the week.

Montreal's weather this week will bring a brief warm spell, but see increasing cloud cover and the imminent arrival of colder temperatures. The occasional warm days are a good reminder to make the most of the warmth while it lasts.
