A Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) cop car was flipped over after the Montreal Canadiens skated their way into the Stanley Cup final on June 24.

A video shows a few people — two wearing Habs jerseys — kicking the windshield, which is visibly smashed.

Montreal police believe just one police car was turned over, according to spokesperson Julien Lévesque, but Lévesque told MTL Blog there were eight cases of "mischief on a police vehicle" post-game.

Police used tear gas to disperse a crowd of thousands of Montrealers who gathered outside the Bell Centre to watch the game, leading to uproarious celebrations after the Habs secured a 3-2 overtime victory, eliminating the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

At 11:15 p.m., the SPVM advised Montrealers to avoid the area, saying "projectiles" were being thrown in the direction of patrol squads near the Bell Centre.

At approximately 2 a.m., the SPVM tweeted that the area would "gradually return to normal" as police were out in large numbers.
