Montreal Construction Closures Are Kicking In This Weekend So Get Ready For Some Traffic

Weekend drives through the Turcot Interchange are set to be a huge headache for Montrealers. Extensive construction will completely shut down a large section of Autoroute 20 to the Ville-Marie Tunnel and Saint-Pierre Interchange. The work will happen between Friday, August 21 to Monday, August 24.

The required construction is for "finishing and realignment work." Transports Québec recommends that all drivers avoid the area as much as possible.

Several detours and closures will affect the western portion of the Turcot Interchange along the Autoroute 720 Ouest and Est, including Autoroute 20 Ouest and Est.

Commuters will find that driving around the surrounding area will also prove to be quite difficult as construction projects are ongoing pretty much everywhere.

The long-term closure of rue Saint-Patrick between avenue Church and rue Eadie under Autoroute 15 will make any potential detour through Ville-Émard a little problematic.

Ongoing construction on Autoroute 15 has also caused numerous problems throughout the summer and that's set to continue until the end of the year.

And finally, until August 25, rue Saint-Rémi is closed to traffic between rue Saint-Jacques and rue Cazelais.

Yikes!

On A-720 and A-20 westbound, the following exits and roads will be affected by closures:

  • entrances to A-720 westbound from rue Saint-Antoine Est, avenue Hôtel-de-Ville, including rue Lucien-L'Allier and rue du Fort;

  • the Turcot Interchange ramp leading from A-720 westbound to Autoroute 15 northbound;

  • the Turcot Interchange ramp leading from A-15 southbound to A-20 westbound;

  • the Turcot Interchange ramp leading from A-15 northbound to A-20 westbound; and

  • the Saint-Pierre interchange ramp leading from A-20 westbound to Route 136 westbound.

In the eastbound direction, the ramp leading from A-15 south to A-20 and A-720 will also be closed.

Commuters should also note that rue Saint-Jacques eastbound between rues Saint-Rémi and de Courcelle will be closed from August 25 to August 31.

The intersection of Saint-Jacques and rue Desnoyers will also be completely closed during the same time five-day time frame.

Good luck out there, folks!
