This Year's Montreal Santa Claus Parade Is Not Coming To Town

Bad news for all of you that love the holiday season — Montreal's Santa Claus Parade 2020 has officially been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Whether or not you believe in Santa Claus, or if you even celebrate Christmas, the parade has been a source of joy for Montrealers and many people all over Quebec, who come to see the annual spectacle. This year would have been the 70th edition of the parade.

The announcement comes just days after the Quebec government announced that the city of Montreal will be entering a red alert due to the spike in cases.

Although the new restrictions are put in place until October 28, Premier Legault has said that the restrictions will continue depending on the situation.

Last year's event saw over 400,000 people from all over the province join to celebrate the festive season.

There's no indication that the event will be digital this year.

At this time, organizers of the Sherbrooke and Quebec City parades have yet to make an announcement as to whether or not the parade will continue in the respective cities.
