Heads up, cheese lovers: the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) recently announced the voluntary recall of a number of Adonis products over concerns they contain unpasteurized milk.

The recall involves packages of "Fromage Parmesan Grana Padano" and "Fromage Parmesan Reggiano."

They were called back over concerns they could affect those considered vulnerable including pregnant women, people with weakened immune systems, children, and the elderly.

In addition, MAPAQ is alerting people who have an allergy or intolerance to walnuts, peanuts, mustard, milk, eggs, sesame, soy or sulphites to the possible presence of these ingredients in "Pizza Adonis." They may not be declared on the label.

All of the recalled products were offered for sale until September 23, inclusively, throughout the entire Marché Adonis network in Quebec.

They were sold refrigerated, covered with a transparent film, and their labels include the words "Groupe Adonis inc.," in addition to their names.

"People deemed vulnerable who have in their possession one of the cheeses indicated above can either return it to the establishment where they bought it, or use it in a cooked dish that will be cooked until it reaches a safe cooking temperature of 74°C or throw it away," reads a statement.

Adonis customers with allergies who purchased a pizza covered by the recall "may either return it to the establishment where they purchased it or throw it away."

MAPAQ noted this is a precautionary measure and that no case of illness associated with the consumption of these foods has been reported.
