Quebec's charm during the summer season is unparalleled, and with so many must-see spots, your options for a summer road trip are endless.

For those having a bit of a tough time selecting where to go, one of Canada's "most beautiful villages" is only an hour away from Montreal and is the perfect destination for the summer.

Frelighsburg is located in Quebec's Eastern Townships and was named one of the most beautiful villages across Canada by Culture Trip.

The travel publication ranked the top 20 most beautiful small towns and villages in Canada, and a handful of Quebec spots managed to make the cut, including Frelighsburg, which sits only an hour outside of Montreal.

"Ranked among Quebec’s most beautiful villages, Frelighsburg is set in a gorgeous location at the foot of Mount Pinacle, on the banks of the Pike River. Located near the Vermont border, the village was settled in the late 18th century by American Loyalists," Culture Trip said.

Many buildings from this era, featuring a blend of brick and wood materials, remain standing today. Notable examples include an 1839 mill and a convent from the early 20th century. The surrounding valley thrives as an apple-growing region, with numerous cider houses and orchards scattered throughout the countryside

Furthermore, Frelighsburg is renowned for its bountiful apple orchards, making it the perfect destination for a memorable autumn adventure. Visitors can get hands-on and pick their own apples at local farms including the Verger de Coeur de la Pomme or indulge in delightful apple-based treats like ice cider.

For those looking to stay overnight, the Gîte Au Chant de l'Onde is a charming bed and breakfast situated on the riverbank. It features a cozy garden, an outdoor terrace, and three rooms, each painted in colours inspired by the owner's global travels.

For a quick bite or a cold beer, the Beat & Betterave serves as a café, nano-brewery, performance hall, and neighbourhood hangout all in one. La Rumeur Affamée is also a must-visit delicatessen, offering a selection of fresh and gourmet products.
