During the holiday season, there's little more captivating than a town adorned with festive lights. This year, the Village Illuminé Desjardins, just under an hour from Montreal, is set to bring to life the glowing displays, seasonal activities, and small-town charm often celebrated in holiday movies.

Opening on December 8, the village offers a trip back in time, with a theme that borrows from the beloved holiday classic A Christmas Carol. Visitors will be wrapped in a storyline where they have to outwit the village’s own Scrooge – Alcide Gronchon while also coming together to rediscover the joy of the season.

There's a real-life year-round Santa's village and workshop in Upstate New York. Only two hours from Montreal, the attraction serves Christmas magic long after Yule. The site is mostly designed for children, but, could serve as a photo backdrop for the Christmas-obsessed during a road trip through New York.

Montreal's Festival Noël dans le Parc wants to get you in the holiday spirit. You can dance under the stars (and festive string lights) in the Mile End, Plateau and Village, until the end of the year at dozens of free outdoor concerts through December 31. You can also pick out a Christmas tree and have it delivered to your home for an extra $5.

Programming is split across Parc Lahaie and Parc des Compagnons-de-Saint-Laurent with most events scheduled for Place Émilie-Gamelin. The festival culminates in a New Year's Eve bash headlined by Bran Van 3000 and Les Frères à Ch’val.

We were dying to know more about the upcoming Montreal Christmas markets, so we had to ask La Lutinerie what's up. Line Basbous, founder and general director of the non-profit organization behind Montreal's Christmas markets, generously accepted to give MTL Blog an exclusive interview before the official release of info.

According to Basbous, the Grand Marché de Noël de Montréal at the Quartier des Spectacles will open on November 19, the Village de Noël de Montréal at Atwater Market on November 24 and the Marché de Noël at Jean-Talon Market on November 26.
