A Quebec resident's life completely changed last month after winning two million dollars playing the Québec 49 game with Loto-Québec. Mélanie Guay from Montérégie has much to celebrate following her whopping windfall. However, Guay didn't realize just how much she had initially won — mistaking her $2 million win for a mere $2.

On the August 30 Québec 49 draw, Guay managed to walk away with the top prize of $2,000,000. Loto-Québec said that Guay and her spouse were feeling lucky that week, so she asked her husband to buy her a lottery ticket. And boy was that ever a wise decision.

A Montreal resident's life changed overnight when they clinched a staggering $50 million jackpot playing Lotto Max.

Now, many of us dream about winning the lottery, quitting our jobs, and travelling the world, living lavishly while brushing our teeth with caviar every morning. However, when Pierre Richer from Montreal won $ 50,000,000, he didn't see a reason to leave his job or change his routine one bit.

The tradition of giving specific gifts for each anniversary milestone remains a meaningful way for couples to celebrate and commemorate their enduring love and commitment over the years. For a Montreal couple celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, silver would have been the symbolic material. However, rather than a shiny pair of cuff links or piece of jewellery — or perhaps in addition to these things — this couple received a million dollars.

Stéphane Vienneau and Maegan Judd of Montreal got the surprise of a lifetime after winning the Maxmillions prize of $1 million from the July 21 Lotto Max draw. Many of us dream of a day when we'll win the big bucks and be given a massive cheque for $1,000,000 and for Vienneau and Judd, that day came just in time for their wedding anniversary.

If an extra grand in income is a wonderful surprise, one thousand extra grands is nearly unimaginable. So it makes sense that Outaouais resident Vivian Donovan Nezan assumed she'd won just one thousand dollars in her Lotto Max Maxmillions draw.

But she was very, very mistaken, in the best possible way. Nezan, checking her ticket using the Lotteries app, realized she'd actually won an entire million in Canadian dollars in her May 30 Lotto Max draw.

Talk about a lottery win that keeps on giving! In a stroke of sheer luck, an Outaouais resident has defied the odds and secured a financial future that many of us can only dream of. François Lajoie won $25,000 a year for life following the Grande Vie April 27 draw and decided to opt for the lump sum of $500,000.

Loto-Québec shared in a press release that Lajoie had purchased his Grande Vie ticket from a grocery store on a whim. His winning numbers? His loved ones' birthdays. The morning of the draw, Lajoie had checked online to verify which Canadian regions the winners were from. Loto-Québec said that Lajoie found out a Quebec player had won 5/5 numbers, still not knowing it was him.

After winning $32 million in Lotto Max's big payout, Liliane Synotte Deschênes turned to her loved ones to spread the windfall. But first, she bought herself a new house and a new car, fulfilling the dreams she told Loto-Québec about upon receiving her payout.

But rather than feeling seen by her close relatives and friends, Deschênes told the Journal de Montreal that she feels underappreciated to the point that she wishes she hadn't leapt to share her jackpot.

When Marcel Lussier of Montérégie won just over $70,000,000 in the June 2022 Lotto Max jackpot draw, he told Loto-Québec he had "71 million plans for the future." One of these plans has revealed itself to be a "historic" donation of $7,000,000 to autism advocacy organization the Véro & Louis Foundation, which is planning to build two new houses for autistic adults with this new influx of money.

Lussier is happy with his decision, saying he's glad "to be able to contribute positively to the mission of the Véro & Louis," and emphasizing via press release that "this seven million will be put to good use." The eponymous co-founders Véronique Cloutier and Louis Morissette added their appreciation for the donation, which is helping their "dream of being able to offer Véro & Louis Homes all over Quebec" become a reality.

It was one heck of a lucky day for 12 co-workers who just took home a collective $1 million after winning one of the 14 Quebec Max jackpots.

Loto-Québec said that the co-workers —11 of whom are from the Mauricie region of Quebec, and one from Centre-du-Québec — have only been playing the lottery together as a group for "a few months," and it's likely they won't want to step playing just yet after winning a million dollars in the March 17 Quebec Max draw.
