Opening a new restaurant in downtown Montreal is always a risky venture. But to do so during the pandemic — a painful time for eateries and the people who work in them — might seem like an impossible task.
Yet family-owned chicken rotisserie chain Benny&Co. has done just that with the launch of a new location at 1175, boul. Robert-Bourassa that offers a new concept for urban folks.

Once indoor dining is allowed, the restaurant will feature a bar, "sound and lighting ambiance," and fast service so busy-as-hell downtown workers can order ready-to-eat meals from their cellphones, according to a news release.
In addition to the location on Robert-Bourassa, the chain will be opening locations on rues Saint-Jacques and Beaubien this summer. The $4.5 million investment will create about 100 jobs, the company said.
Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante praised the company for opening downtown, stating, "the economic recovery of Montreal and its downtown area is underway, and we are confident that, with the contribution of partners like Benny&Co., we can make it a success."
